To support candidates, the CIC®, LTC-CIP®, and a-IPC™ Examination Appointment Policy offers clear guidelines on rescheduling, cancellations, and eligibility extensions. Rescheduling Your Examination Appointment
Flexibility is essential when planning your certification journey. If life events force a change in your schedule, the policy allows for rescheduling under specific conditions:
- How to Reschedule:
- Visit Prometric’s website (Prometric.com) and select “Reschedule/Cancel.”
- Alternatively, contact Prometric via Phone: 1-800-278-6222.
- You will need to provide your 16-digit Prometric confirmation number to make any changes.
- Prometric Rescheduling Fees:
- 30 days or more before the appointment: No fee.
- 5–29 days before the appointment: $30 fee.
- Within 5 days of the appointment: Rescheduling is not allowed, and examination fees will be forfeited.
- Important Tip: Ensure your new date falls within your 90-day eligibility window. Missing this window means you’ll need to reapply as a first-time applicant, including submitting a new application and fee.
Requesting an Extension
Extensions can help you manage your eligibility window without losing your examination opportunity.
- Extension Request Process:
- Complete the Extension Request Form available on the CBIC website.
- Submit your request well in advance. Requests made within 5 days of the end of your eligibility window or scheduled exam date will not be accepted.
- Pay a $72 extension fee if your request is approved.
- Key Restrictions:
- Extensions are not granted for lack of preparation.
- Extensions cannot exceed 60 days beyond the original eligibility end date.
- Insufficient supporting documentation. Examples of supporting documentation include doctors’ note, verifiable letter from direct manager or supervisor, etc.
- Post-Approval Steps:
If you’ve already scheduled your exam, cancel your appointment through Prometric, provide a cancellation confirmation to CBIC, and pay the extension fee. Once processed, you can schedule a new appointment within your updated eligibility window.
Please note: Once approved, the extension is not complete until we hear back from you notifying that you’ve completed all steps by the given deadline.

Best Practices for Managing Your Certification Exam Appointment
- Plan Ahead:
Secure your appointment early and familiarize yourself with the 90-day eligibility window. - Act Promptly:
If unexpected events occur, act quickly to reschedule or request an extension. Waiting too long could result in forfeited fees or the need to reapply. - Stay Organized:
Keep a record of your Prometric confirmation number, eligibility deadlines, and any correspondence with CBIC or Prometric. - Prepare for Success:
Allocate sufficient time to study, ensuring you feel confident before scheduling your exam. Avoid last-minute cancellations or rescheduling due to inadequate preparation.
Your certification success is achievable—stay informed, organized, and focused!
