The APIC 2025 National Conference brought together infection prevention and control professionals from across the globe for several days of learning, networking, and professional growth.
But did you know that your participation in APIC25 also counts toward your CIC®, a-IPC™, and LTC-CIP ® recertification?
Attending the national conference in-person or virtually qualifies you to earn 10 Infection Prevention Units (IPUs), with additional IPUs available for completing on-demand sessions. Your time in the educational sessions not only strengthened your skills but also helped you earn IPUs toward recertification.
Even better—if you attended any of APIC’s national conferences within your 5-year recertification cycle, those credits are eligible to count toward your IPUs as well!
You may be wondering: Where can I find my earned IPUs? How do I upload the IPUs I earned from the APIC national conference?
Below is an example of the 2025 certificate of attendance you should have received from APIC (Please note: this also applies for those candidates that attended virtually):
In the example above, the highlighted areas show where you can find the total IPUs earned. For this certificate of attendance:
- 10 IPUs were earned for attending the multi-day national conference.
- 8 IPUs were earned for participating in the on-demand sessions.
That brings the total to 18 IPUs earned for APIC25.
Another example: For certificants who earned IPUs by attending APIC national conferences in previous years (within their 5-year recertification cycle), the process is the same. These credits are also eligible to count towards your recertification requirements.
How to Upload Your Earned APIC National Conference IPUs into your IPU Portfolio:
- First IPU entry:
- Category: National Conference
- IPUs earned: 10
- Documentation: Upload your APIC certificate of attendance
- Second IPU entry:
- Category: Education Module
- IPUs earned: 8 (Total additional IPUs earned)
- Documentation: Upload your APIC certificate of attendance
By entering your IPUs this way, both APIC conference and on-demand sessions are properly documented in your IPU portfolio
