Are you deciding between taking a CBIC exam at a Prometric Testing Center or through Prometric Remote Proctoring (ProProctor)? There are several factors to consider when choosing the best testing method. Below are some factors to think about:
1. Convenience & Accessibility
- Remote Proctoring: You can take the exam from home or another quiet location, eliminating the need for travel (must meet Testing Environment requirements).
- Testing Center: Requires traveling to a physical location, which may be inconvenient depending on your location. However, it eliminates the need to meet the technical requirements that are needed to test remotely.
2. Technical Requirements
- Remote Proctoring: Requires a reliable internet connection, a webcam, a microphone, and a quiet environment. Software installations and system compatibility checks are required prior to exam day. (Please thoroughly review the following: CBIC Remote Proctor Testing Policy and ProProctor User Guide). Unforeseen technical challenges, such as connectivity issues or software malfunctions, can disrupt the testing process and, in some cases, lead to exam termination.
- Testing Center: No technical setup is needed; everything is provided (Please review: Prometric Experience).
3. Security & Proctoring
- Remote Proctoring: Live proctors monitor you through webcam. Strict procedures prevent cheating, and interruptions can result in termination.
- Testing Center: Proctors oversee exams in person, with cameras and additional security steps in place.
4. Testing Environment
- Remote Proctoring: You must ensure a distraction-free environment. Background noise or interruptions can lead to test termination.
- Testing Center: A controlled environment designed for testing, free from potential home distractions.
5. Comfort & Experience
- Remote Proctoring: You can take the exam in a familiar setting but may face software-related issues or delays.
- Testing Center: Offers a structured environment with consistent conditions, helping to reduce stress for some test-takers.
6. Choose what’s best for you.
- Choose Remote Proctoring if you prefer a quiet home environment
,and prefer not to travel.
- Choose a Testing Center if you prefer a controlled setting
,and want to avoid strict online proctoring rules and potential technical issues.
