The Certification Board of Infection control and Epidemiology (CBIC), in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), is committed to making sure candidates with disabilities can take their certification exam with the accommodation they need.  Every candidate deserves an equal opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills. However, for individuals with disabilities or specific needs, standardized testing conditions may present significant challenges. That’s where special accommodations come into play. 

What are Special Accommodations? Special accommodations are modifications or adjustments made to standard testing conditions to ensure that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. These accommodations may include extended testing time, assistive technology, or modifications to the testing environment. 

Why are Special Accommodations Important? Special accommodations are crucial as it creates a fair opportunity for candidates with disabilities or specific needs. By removing barriers to testing, these accommodations enable individuals to showcase their true abilities without being hindered by their disability or condition. This promotes fairness, equity, and inclusivity in the certification process.

Instead, they enhance it by ensuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. By providing reasonable accommodations, we uphold the principles of fairness and equity in certification. 

How to Request Special Accommodations at CBIC? We strive to make the process of requesting special accommodations as accessible and straightforward as possible. CBIC requires the following supporting documentation to be filled out and uploaded along with your examination application. CBIC requires both the Request for Special Exam Accommodations and Documentation of Disability form submitted at the time of application.
